On 2 February 2012, Nina Schaap defended her PhD thesis succesfully “Driving Behaviour in Unexpected Situations” at the University of Twente, Enschede. Congratulations Nina!
Driving in urban areas can be challenging for drivers, especially when they are engaged in tasks outside their primary task of driving. Advanced Driver Assistance systems aim to support a driver to safely and efficiently carry out driving tasks. The introduction of Advanced Driver Assistance systems requires a thorough understanding of the strong and weak points of drivers, including behavioral adaptation, especially when dealing with safety-critical situations.
